RubyKaigi 2008 Call for Presentations

RubyKaigi 2008 is seeking presentations covering a wide range of topics about Ruby. We welcome submissions on all aspects of Ruby.

The official languages of the conference are Japanese and Ruby, but we welcome presentations in English. We have had English presentations in the past, and plan to prepare as necessary (translated slides, IRC translation channel, interpreter etc.) for our primarily Japanese audience.

The deadline for submissions is Sunday, 17th February, 2008. Submissions have closed

How to apply

Please apply via e-mail, using the following format:

  • To: rubykaigi2008@jp.rubyist.net
  • Subject: RubyKaigi Presentation Proposal: Presenter's Name
  • Body: Please include the following information about your submission:
    • Presenter's name
    • companies or organizations the presenter belongs to.
    • The title of the talk (or a working title)
    • A short abstract of the talk
    • preferred duration of presentation time slot: 15 min./30 min./over 30 min. (please give an estimate)
    • preferred contact address
    • Please feel free to include any comments or questions

Abstract:
  Now that YARV: Yet Another Ruby VM has
become an official part of Ruby in 1.9, the
name YARV has become little more than
a faded, long-ago memory. What exactly
 was YARV? What did its existence mean
to us? What was the impact of YARV on
the Ruby of 2008, and beyond? In this
talk, the presenter will reminisce YARV,
and discuss "life after YARV".

Accepted presentations will be held on either Saturday, 21st June, or Sunday, 22nd June. Friday, 20th June are not within the scope of the CFP.

Acceptance Process

All submissions will be reviewed by the RubyKaigi 2008 Staff.

  • A projector will be available for all presentations. If any additional equipment or preparation is required, please contact the RubyKaigi staff at rubykaigi2008@jp.rubyist.net
  • Presenters will not require tickets to attend the Kaigi. Please contact the RubyKaigi staff at rubykaigi2008@jp.rubyist.net if you have any questions, or concerns regarding travel arrangements.
  • "Lightning Talks" will also be held. An announcement will be made at a later date.
